IN 1997, I didn't even need a hand phone when working. In 2007, hand phone was a necessity for work. In 2017, hand phones became a pain in the neck when people whatsapp rubbish 24 hours a day.

In 1997, I was renting VHS tapes to watch the Godfather Trilogy. In 2007, I bought the Special Edition DVD Combo of the Godfather Trilogy for my Dad's birthday. In 2017, the damn Netflix don't even have it online. I had to go surf it on some pirate sites.

In 1997, doctors told me not to eat fats. In 2007, those same doctors told me, go for the fats but don't eat carbo. In 2017, those same dudes in white went OCD and said, "the chickens have injected hormones, the fish from the ocean has too much mercury, the veggies got too much pesticides, the cow... well they go mad, the mineral water accumulates stones in your bladder... and of course, the margarine has the same construct as plastic."

In 1997, they told everyone to study IT. It seems that at that time, IT is the way forward. In 2007, they realised that we are severely short of doctors. In 2017, everyone listens to Jack Ma when he said, "screw all that as robots will be doing most of the work. You are better of studying arts."

In 1997, a link house costs RM190,000. In 2007, RM190,000 gives you a small apartment. In 2017, let's just buy a van and sleep in it. At least it has air conditioning.

In 1997, everyone prepared themselves costing millions of dollars for a doomsday scheduled to be sparked by electronics gone made with Y2K issues. In 2007, they found out that doomsday should be 2012 as prescribed by the Mayan calendar. In 2017, people starts shooting each other in schools.

In 1997, the Japanese created their own technologies whilst the Koreans were the masters of reverse engineering from technologies foreign to them. In 2007, the Koreans created their own technologies whilst the Chinese were the masters of reverse engineering from technologies foreign to them. In 2017, the Chinese created their own technologies whilst the rest of the world puts their gear on N.

In 1997, we used those 4.7 inch floppy diskettes. In 2007, everything was on the thumbdrive. In 2017, you are only given an access link to the cloud.
