verpopulated England in the 1500's solved the overpopulation issue by sending convicts everywhere: Ireland, Iceland, Australia, America and also sold to ship owners to be white slaves to paddle ships. Their ears were pierced so that all ears can be locked in a strip of wire to avoid them running; else, they bleed their ears. Black slaves were captured by white slaves in West Africa but put in lockups in ships to be sold to Spanish in America. Such is the different statuses of humans even within the slavery fraternity.




Once, a Turkish King of Ottoman empire, Yavuz Sultan Selim (1470), wore ear rings and went for Haj in Mekkah. The keeper of Mekkah (or probably the head of religion adminstration, the Mufti) denied the King entrance to Mekkah on the basis that Islam prohibits male wearing ear rings to denote Islam's rejection of slavery. All the King had to say was "I am the slave of Allah (God Almighty) so there is no issue if I am regarded as slave (with the ear rings to convey that message)"

When asked (Why he wears ear rings?), Seelan Paul, the CEO/DJ for Hot FM said "Ha.. ha.. actually I was influenced by Johnny Depp in 21 Jump Street... "

So, for those who wear ear rings, I ought to regard them as Kings? Or Slaves? Maybe Kings of Slaves? Or Those Who Desperately Seek Attention? Most Gays wear ear rings. Perhaps that is one way of identifying them (Gays)? Whatever it is. It is interesting to trace current trends back to their historical origins. I was once told that keeping long pony tail hair was the practice of slaves in China. Today we regard it as Rockers, Cool and Trendy. Such is the development of human culture and behaviour. I wonder what ear rings would mean 500 years from now? Perhaps the telecommunication tool of the future is via an electronic ear ring like a mini ear phone that transmits sound to the timpanum of ears as well as a mini microphone that gets activated via identification your voice from your mouth at the same time? Or it may be a mini data storage system that acts as passport, identification device, etc.

Imagine walking at a shopping centre where the advertising boards only show products that suit your profile simply by a device that reads your personal info in your ear ring. Do the same thing to other services/areas like internet log in, radio, television, immigration, customs, police, universities and medical! So, everyone can wear ear rings and when you jog, the ear ring will tell you "Please stop as your heart beat has reached the optimal level".
